God will let you pick His flowers

Lisa called me today with the news. She said, "I know a lot of people will be sad, but I thought about you because I know you are going to be really, really sad". She knows me too well, and she's right. I'm really, really sad.

Several weeks ago I wrote about her. You can read it again HERE.

She's a special lady. I have such respect for her on so many levels - as a mother, a wife, and a business woman. Few really know that she was the one with the business brains in her marriage. While her husband was campaigning, legislating, and signing bills, she was building a radio broadcasting empire.
She was married to a powerful man, a man with a strong personality who was used to getting his way. The type of man that was intimidating to many - yelling out orders and demanding respect.
But she had him in the palm of her hand, she knew him better than anyone. This tiny lady could make this man weak in the knees. She was his confidant, his advisor, his best friend, and his lover.

She made this country a prettier place. Every time you pass by a roadside park, see wildflowers on the side of the road, or cherry blossoms in D.C., you can thank her.

My Mother tells the story when I was a little girl and we went on a vacation to Ruidoso, NM. We were high upon a mountain with the clouds below. I guess I thought I was in heaven, I was only about 2 or 3. I asked my mom, "Do you think God will care if I pick His flowers?"

Imagine how the wildflowers in heaven will look now...
