Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all eat to your heart's (and stomach's) desire; and of course while you're eating, I hope you reflect back on all your many blessings. I have many blessings in which I'm thankful - one in particular involves these two people.

This is my Aunt Pat and cousin Travis. I have many wonderful memories of my Aunt Pat, most of which from when I was a little girl and she lived with us while her husband was in Viet Nam. She dressed me up everyday and taught me how fun it is to be girly. I realize now, almost 40 years later, that she is the definition of a 'Steel Magnolia'. She always perseveres.

My cousin Travis surprised us all when he announced he had joined the Marines. He is 19-years-old and will spend his Thanksgiving at boot camp. Family or not, I'm thankful to know these two.

I'm thankful for the time we had with Travis all summer, and look forward to getting him back home safely and soundly in four years so he can enjoy Hummingbird Farms and all the peacefulness that surrounds us. And of course - get back to fishing...
